The Fashion Portfolio Academy is becoming known for the resources that they provide to up and coming designers who want to launch their own brand and achieve success. Many of her students are not interested in the expense and time that a four year degree requires. These designers have the talent, brains, and passion to launch their own brand but are looking for a little guidance to fine tune and get the most out of their efforts.
We attended the 4 hour Boot Camp intensive at Ripley Grier Studios, which is designed to introduced us to the essential strategies and fashion business planning skills for a smooth start-up. We were show the key aspects of planning a fashion business from award winning fashion designer Francisca Pineda.
Through her personal stories, we learned exactly how she launched with limited capital and became an international wholesale fashion business and covered by WWD all in her first year of launch. We worked through her learner-driven, action-focused worksheets, a clear step-by-step action plan to launch a successful fashion enterprise.
Although Francisca’s background is in ECO Fashion, it was general enough to guide anyone looking to start a retail business.
